My frugalness of the day...
Corn was on sale for 15 cents an ear at the grocery store so bought a bunch for the birds to eat.
All my rabbits go crazy over corn husks and they have a huge trash can next to the corn for people to shuck it right there instead of having to deal with it at home.
A...
I don't know how "frugal" this is because when it's said and done it cost me much more than the grocery stores
5/$1 corn specials in the summer BUT it's fresh, GMO free, organic, and put lots of chicken poo to use.
And as you can see my 2 year old absolutely loves growing it.
I just adored this...
The soil here is SOOOOOOOO bad!!!
Great for tomatoes, but that's about it.
We bought 8 pick up truck loads of composted horse manure which has worked wonders in our raised beds, but once tilled into the ground in the other big garden it pretty much washed away. The chicken poo is great for corn...
My most frugal thing yet!!!
9 cases of peppers!
There are 60 bags of the multi-colored sweet peppers that sell for $3.99-$4.99 at stores. All super fresh, didn't even make it to the grocery store.
There are 40 bags each with 6 green bell peppers from the same company that sell for about the...
Haha I don't eat canned meat.
I wouldn't eat ground turkey from a store (well for ethical reasons I wouldn't eat any meat from a store) but our homegrown was really good.
I spend a couple hours a day cooking and everything I've used it in my family really like.
We ground all our turkeys (mostly because I didn't want to pluck them by the time we had them) and I've found that helped a lot for the versatility. Once you put it in stuff it's almost like ground beef and you can do burgers, meatballs, whatever...
I got the kitchen aid grinder attachment for...
Haven't had Muscovy, but the way we cook duck breast tastes just like a steak.
Score and season a boneless breast. Put it in a steaming hot cast iron skillet like 4 min on the skin side down then flip it over and finish it for like 2 min or you can finish in the oven.
I like my steak rare and...
Haha apparently I'm not living as frugal as I thought I was.
We are paying a small fortune on Directv but I can't get rid of it. They're the only carrier that has NFL Sunday ticket!
As far as raising meat, it costs me wayyyy more than buying it in the store, but as was said, at least you know...
Thanks!
We really like it here.
My husband's in the Army so they decided we're living here, but I don't want to leave. Ever haha.
And price of land is wayyyy cheaper than where we come from up North!
I would love to add some livestock as soon as we move.
That is ridiculous!!!!
Haha I don't eat apricot preserves either, but if I found ANYTHING for 1 cent I would buy all I could!
Good job!!!!
Edit-- somehow that didn't quote right, but I'm sure you guys can figure out what I was referring to :)
Haha WOW that's a lot of land!
We were thinking more like 3-5 acres haha
Sometimes I think I want to leave everything and just move out west to like Montana or Wyoming and live off the grid.
Then I start panicking of being in the middle of nowhere, I've always been on the east coast near big...
Hello everyone!
I came across this thread and thought it was interesting. I strive to be pretty frugal (always looking for bargains and coupon clipping and whatnot). Though there are certain things I do like to splurge on. Anyway, I wanted to say hi to everyone!!!!
I'm a stay at home mom...
