I'm sure it was in the Continental Class, as most people don't know that they should be in the English Class. At shows, if it isn't in the Standard, it can end up in any number of classes. It's just good that they are being shown. More than likely the owner(s) of the birds put them in that class...
People ask for changes, I didn't say that was impossible. It's not likely to happen, but the Standard Committee has to be open minded. We also accept new varieties or breeds. It's not semantics. The two alterations to the Standard are quite different with different requirements.

I may have some pictures of the blue eggs that I took myself. It is digital color, so it is probably off a bit, but I personally saw eggs this color at the British National Show in November. I didn't have my Pantone Color Chart with me, but color is what I used to do for a living, so I have...
Not at all. You just have to be wary of chicken facts posted online...lol I double checked the UK Standard to make sure they didn't allow the combination you posted. It is not a problem....enjoy your birds.

You are correct, there are not changes to any Standard that I know of that changes the original intent of the description. I don't think all folks understand what a Standard for a breed really is. The Cream Legbar people have been very thoughtful about how they are determining the Standard for...
Breeding chickens to a specific goal is not like breeding large livestock, dogs or anything else. You can get away with certain incestuous mating and profit from those matings.....but you have to know the rules. ..one is you don't mate brother and sister together unless that is all you have...
You have everything you need here in the States now to make any kind of Legbar that you fancy. Getting white sports is not unusual in this breed.....here or in England.....or so the Brits tell me. When you say creating a sop bird, you are talking about the written Standard. That is the perfect...
I'm not sure that a re-creation using birds in the States will ever work. The British used British Leghorns, which are different in type than our Leghorns. Everything they used is different here in the States. If you imported the original breeds used, the recreation would be much easier.....but...
The British Poultry Club has always been the guardian of the British Standards, but the Standards themselves are delineated by the specialist breed CLUBS. I don't know if an individual can propose breed Standards in Great Britain. Probably not. I am meeting British people that I know at the...
I checked the show catalog and you are correct. There does not seem to be a Legbar club, but they mention Legbars here.
