You can use golf balls as 'fake eggs.' It may or may not result in your chickens using the other nest boxes. We reduced our flock to just 7 hens (from 50) and they have their choice of 8 nest boxes. They ALL use the same one or two ... though which one sometimes changes. Even when we had 50...- greyhorsewoman
