    Just added a new perch to the setup, made of 2 concrete blocks and a 2x4: I'm also going to put 2 18" long perches on the central post (which provides support for the wire pen roof)--one perch will be lower and one higher. I'll post pix when I get that done.

    Yes, I like chainlink b/c it's totally predator proof. I have a hardware cloth apron that extends 2 feet along the ground (staked in) and 2 feet up the sides to dissuade smaller predators (and raccoon arms on the few occasions when the chix aren't locked up in their house by the time it's dark).
