You don't have any fertile eggs? Now, why do I find that hard to believe? Lol. My only other option is a roo that was born 12/20, I would imagine it's too early for him! Idk, maybe they are not fertile
I just wormed the girls, should I wait until the wormer is out of their system? I know they recommend not eating the eggs for 18 days, what about hatching?
I don't know!!!! 7 month old EE. No crowing, red comb but no eggs, won't squat for me, uniform coloring. I have seen "her" mount one of my hens, but this can be dominance too, right? What do you think?
Omg that is so cute! For every bad experience I have with a hatch, these chicks with their super cute faces and funny little antics make up for it. If I'm ever feeling sad sitting with the chicks/ chickens always cheers me up!
I'm so glad I'm not alone in my feelings! This was a rough day and will probably have nightmares. The babies work so hard to be born and having to kill them after is brutal! I'm glad I have you guys to share my feelings with and I thank everyone of you!
Thank you, I think the freezer method will be my next choice, if I need to euthanize again (and I'm sure I will) scissors are probably the quickest way, but a little to graphic for me!
Thanks guys, the hardest part for me is having to make the life or death decision. Suffering is not an option. I would like to hear what everyone's preferred method for putting their chicks down. I drown the little guy, but this method didn't seem like the quickest way. I'm sorry you lost your...
I just had a chick hatch with its brains exposed. This was my first cull and it really sucked! I'm glad the majority of my hatches have been healthy, but when they go wrong it is hard to deal with and makes you wonder what you are doing. Thanks for listening.
Good advice! I get way to clingy with my eggs and tend to want to help, it never ends up well. I'm trying to learn to leave them alone! It's hard when you have o.c. Tendencies
Ha! You know me so well, I will be ordering from you again! I just can't stay away and you have really nice birds!!! I need to be clear tho, I'm not complaining about the eggs not being fertile, I'm just letting you know. I think overall, I see the majority developing. That's always a good thing!
Yeah, I was going to tell you sbel were mostly clear (except 2, yay!) and your 100 BLRW clear, all 50 pen BLRW have veining! Almost everything else is developing, so overall a very good fertility rate!
