I was just told by a top chicken expert (vet)...that a lack of calcium and proper layer feed will enhance the risk of egg binding.

Squatting is a sign of a sexually mature chicken...I don't think it necessarily means she will lay an egg, just that she is old enough and mature enough to do so.

I think she will be in Chickie heaven to be back out in the coop with her friends She won't even notice the chilly air!

Have you tried feeding her some of her regular food made into a mash with water? She can get the water she needs from the mash and then you wouldn't have to worry about her spilling it on herself and she can have it with her all the time in case she gets hungry
