Eating broccoli
#29 is the one on the lower right.
My new Vindor icelandic is the one with the "do" on the lower left.
White one is a SWA X TraderJoe's Leghorn.
Middle is an Icelandic
Top and top left are SFHs... I think!
And here's a wide view of some of the same ones.
Most in...
Lately, I've been sitting in the grow out pen with my NYD hatch chicks and I've been giving them bread.
THEY ATTACK ME NOW when I walk in. They must think I'm made of bread!!!
I've got to get pics for y'all.
Can't believe the babies are 4 weeks old and that I'll be getting another group of chicks out of eggs on Ground Hog's Day... all Wheaten/BW Ameraucanas and Olive Eggers.
My two SFH survivors just keep looking better. The one with the crooked toes will be that way forever but the other one that I think is a roo, is really going to be EYE candy. I'm thinking I'm going to have to let Laree have them to breed and then give me eggs to hatch because I can't have a roo.
I have a FBCM chick from the NYD hatch that looks like it won't make it. It's bottom is swollen and distended and I'm too afraid to squeeze it to see if I can get poop to come out... It's so swollen, I can't see the vent. I'm worried that I put too much DE down with the pine shavings and that...
This is for The other Mary and any other interested parties....
Picks of my New Years Day Hatch 2012 chicks.
First up the only two surviving Swedish Flower Hen chicks. I'm guessing female on the left, male on the right.
Next up, group shot at the feeder. Lots of blacks, whites and...
It would be physically impossible for 27 chicks to remain in my house for THREE WEEKS.
I have 6 in the Laree brooder, (#29, the Lavender Am, the 2 SFHs, blue EE and mottled Icelandic)... the other 21 are living happy in the other grow out pen... but I have noticed that one lamp is not quite...
So now we know who bought the silkied Ams!
Moved 2/3rds of the NYD chicks from the Laree brooder to the grow out pen. They are all much more comfortable now.
And the booted SFH seems to be doing MUCH better.
I left 9 in the Laree brooder, including the Lav. Am, SFH, #29 and the 3...
My chicks are getting so big they are outgrowing the brooder box!
After work today, I'll be separating the larger chicks to a grow out pen, so that the smaller ones have room to grow!
I used my Montel blender to do make some chick mash. I gave that to "her" and she is doing much today. I also re taped her curved toes onto hard paper. When I took it of the other day, the toes curved right back again and the other chicks picked on them until they bled. So I put neosporin on...
Looks like our hatch is wrapping itself up.
My SFH chick with the curved toes is starting to dwindle. I hope it makes it.
I got the grow out pen ready with a heat lamp so three weeks from now I can move all of them there and prepare the brooder box for my purebred Wheaten Ameraucana hatch...
