You are having weather like ours. It's been raining here for two days on the Oregon coast. Thunder and lighting last night. More coming tonight. Yesterday 3" of rain and today already 1". My girls are loving their new coop because it dry inside and lots of room.
You are making great progress...
First day in their new home and I got 3 eggs! My 4 older hens moved into their new coop last night and I was worried about them using their new nest boxes for the first time. They are completely different. We locked them out of their older coop (they are both attached to the run). My Wynandotte...
We all survived the first night in the new coop. The girls did have some trouble getting up on the roast bars. Was a bit confused as where to go. My HB left them some art work in the PDZ last night and this morning they left us their own drawing.
They are a bit upset this morning as we have...
Very nice set up! I bet your chickens love their new home. It's exciting -- we just finished ours too and last night was the first night for our 4 older girls. I notice you have wood chips under your poop board. Have you thought about Sweet PDZ. I tried it and it is amazing. So easy to clean up...
Our new chicken coop is finished and full. We moved the big girls in late this afternoon after we fenced in the new coop to the run. We had fun just watching them exploring the new place. Now what do we do with all our free time.
We finally have chickens in our new coop. We move our 5 week old girls into today. Last night we put together this holding pen for them. It is designed to be easily removed when finished if we want. The girls have adjusted well to their new home and even took to a PVC nip water system my HB...
We decide to go with a holding/brooding pen in our new chickie coop. My wonderful HB worked late on it tonight. He is so ready to have the chicks out of his shop. Just a few small touches tomorrow and it will be ready for the little girls to move in. I can't believe their are 5 weeks today...
thanks for the advise. Honestly hadn't thought of doing it that way. Only problem is that they would never really see each other. But I will give it some thought. Thanks. :)
Thanks Latestarter for the helpful information about building a PVC nipple system. We went ahead and ordered some more nipples of Amazon. So we will have a few extra on hand. Way more affordable than at our local feed store.
We are wanting to install a PVC water nipple system in our new chickie coop and was wondering how high to make it and how far apart to put the nipples. I will have 12 girls in the new coop so would 4 nipples be enough or do I need more?
I know this is not where you would normally post this but I...
Very nice. Looks like they are settling right in. We are also in the progress of building our second much larger coop. It's fun to watch and see what everyone is doing. Thanks for sharing.
I know how you are feeling. We are building a second coop but have to wait on the weather. Rain for the next 3 to 4 days here. But we know it doesn't leak now.
I just wanted to thank everyone for the replies and concerns about my floor. I think I have talked my HB into getting some lineloum for the floor. Need to check and see if I can find some cheap stuff somewhere.
