YES, Ameraucanas. I was typing furiously because I wanted to finish quick and run out and feed everyone before the storm rolled in.They have Blue, Black and Splash and a pure Black line. May have a White line too. Their EE's are bred for the blueness of their egg and good laying ability.
Well I finally got more work done on my chicken coop and run.
The metal shingles are alternating rows of Foster's cans and Wicked Red Cider tallboys. I cut the top off and split the can and then cut the bottom off with tin snips. Then I run the over the corner of the coop to flatten them.
If you want good laying EE's, order some chicks from Sandhill Preservation Center. They monitor the egg productions of all their breeds. They also have pure Americanas too.
I don't yet. They have been on my wish list. Everytime it would seem I had a line on some eggs or even a couple of cockerels that were about 3 hours away, something happened and things fell through. The older I get the less I find myself willing to put up with drama with my animals. Right now I...

If you have weasels or rats or even snakes you need to use hardware cloth on those. The rats and snakes will mostly take the eggs but they will also help themselves to any chicks you have. Weasels will just go on a killing spree and wipe everything out. Possoms will eat a hen alive. Only...
I sat there figuring this out: There are 8 pens that attach to the central hub. She can run 8 different breeds or breeding groups and has the brooders in the central hub. I am sure at least one of those pens are a grow out pen though.
Saw this on Facebook today and I just had to share. An Ultimate Chicken coop.
I'm guessing the ladder goes up to the cupola where you can survey your chicken kingdom in style.
This is the new coop I am working on. I have been using lumber from an old dismantled deck and barnwood (mostly oak) from an old shed that I am dismantling. It is astounding to realize what a labor saver plywood is versus building with boards.
This is the framework. After taking the shots I...
