It seems to look ok to me you can only do so much short of putting land mines in, lol.In the winter I wrap my run with a heavy canvas on 3 sides and a clear shower curtain on the front, acts like a greenhouse and warms up during the day and it keeps the snow out.
Cutting a hole is a scary thing especially after going through all the hard work, I made mine with the hinges at the top so it can stay open during the rain you should consider flipping it over.
Great looking coop and with a good cause, after last year's winter I would cover half the run to keep it dry and in the winter I would put clear corrugated roofing panels on to keep the snow out and let sunshine in, they will want to be outside more than in.
