I understand now. I sort of do the same thing. I have 2x3 wire fencing area inside my grow out pen. Small chicks can get through the 2x3 if they need to get away quick from a bigger chick while they are still small enough.

I am on the Big Island! Are you on Oahu now? I am so bummed I missed the big farm fair they have on Oahu every year. I am going for sure next summer.

I had something similar happen to me awhile back. I contacted a very respected chicken person about chicks and was told "no way" would that person send me chicks here in Hawaii because it was too much hassle. I made other arrangements and decided to try hatching eggs and had them sent to me...
