I have 42 golden comets, over the last several days I have one hen, who I think is broody. She is always in the nest trying to hatch a group of eggs that were laid by the others. How long does this last?

Live in the county small farm, always have a potential problem. Have the pasture fenced, but always on the lookout. Lock them up at night. Always finding fixing areas that i think those critters might get in.

Can someone tell me the right size and height i should have for a roost. How big, how wide, do they need the edges trimmed. How far off the ground should they be. Do they need a ramp to get to them?

My hens pretty much lay in the nests. I have fake eggs in all of them, when i take them out i find eggs in corners of the coop or just about anywhere. I still find one on the floor when the nest is taken by another hen. It seems they still have their special one, while the other nests go unused.
