Yeah, tail less in labs or goldens isn't very common. It could be a sign of spinal biffida (sp?). But if he dosnt look obviously deformed I would give him a shot if he is wanting to nurse and try.
Wasn't daddy a chocolate lab? At least in labs chocolate and yellow are recessive, can't get a black from breeding the two together...are you sure they aren't brownies? I had a litter of mini doxies last Tuesday, always exciting! Good luck!
