Here you go Mary, sorry I didn't get the pictures taken yesterday. These were taken about an hour ago and the chicks hatched the day before Easter. Pullet (sorry I didn't get her comb too well in this shot) Cockerel (very obvious comb and it pinks up quickly) Side by side for comparison...

Is that picture from today? I'd say pullet. Tomorrow I'll post a picture of a cockerel and a pullet from my Easter hatch. The difference is pretty obvious. Deb

Yes, just post a picture, they are pretty easy to sex. The comb/wattles grow quickly and very dark pink very early on the boys. They stay small and pale on the pullets. Now out of everyone I sexed today, the two icelandics were kind of a shoulder shrug for me, I'm leaning towards both girls...

Quote: I was six. I have a picture of myself wearing a one piece playsuit, seersucker, snaps up the front, holding a hula hoop and wearing a lei. I remember Hawaii was all the rage because of Statehood. Of course, that means I also predate Alaska & Disneyland, of course it predates both of...

I always call that the "working until they shovel you in" retirement plan. I was the payroll manager for a government office for 25+ years (3,000+ people). I can't tell you the number of people that passed away shortly after retiring. One man I worked with retired, took off one week, came...

Oh no, if you're truly old to match the ad (although I remember buying meat chicks for 25 cents each), but I can just hear my mother saying............... Monkey Wards! Isn't that what that generation always called them? Deb

Quote: So true, I set 30 of my own eggs and 27 hatched, for a rate of 90% I set 19 shipped eggs and 5 hatched for a rate of 26%, overall I ended up with a hatch rate of 65%. I was pretty happy with that since 39% of my eggs set were shipped. Congratulations on your hatch, you did a...
