Kathy that video of the emu chicks playing in the water was absolutely precious. You must be enjoying them so much. Thank you so much for sharing them with those of us who do not have a place to have emus of our own. Even my DH had a chuckle or two at their antics. I did have to assure him...
I will be 46 this year. I have to say, other than being a teenager, I have enjoyed the age I was at, at the time, every year. I have never wanted to go back to a younger age. So far I haven't wanted to be younger again especialy if it meant that I would loose what I learned getting to that...
I would say that is a face only a mother could love, but apparently not even a mother can love that face. Is that what they really look like as babies? If so, I am not interested in parrots.
I know Renee has been really busy. She checked in to the turkey hatch thread this weekend and said she was going to be super busy this week as well so I think she is OK just distracted........Oh look! A chicken!
kvmommy I don't know if you were worried because she is a bantam or because she is growing a little slower but I have one (the one I had to bandaid the legs on because of splay leg) that was lagging behind the others. Now that his bandaid is off, and he can move freely, he is catching up quick...
Congratulations to Silky Mom!
I want to thank Mahonri, SCG, Kathyinmo, the Sherriff, Laree (and anyone else who was working so hard behind the sceene to make this happen) on all the hard work and dedication it took to make this such a fun hatch along. The contests, prizes, helpful advice and...
Buckabucka I would keep an eye on that navel area to make sure it is not getting infected. If it starts looking a little red and swollen, I would clean it with some betadine mixed with water and maybe put some triple antiseptic ointment on it. If it looks like it is not infected, I would just...
Honestly have never read that one. I know most people do when they are young, but that is one that I never got around to reading. We did have to read the Scarlet Letter though. I always wanted to go into that town and the "menfolk."
Well I took the plunge and actually sold some of my chicks this time. It wasn't quite as hard as I thought it was going to be. The gentleman who came over sounded like a kindred spirit. He bought 5 chicks at the store over the weekend and bought 6 from me and hadn't mentioned it to DW.
The thread is up and running. The link is in ChoocksChick siggy. (Cinco de Mayo turkey hatch)
ETA - It is now in my siggy as well! You are welcome to join in. Not everyone has set yet!
I know this feeling Linda. I more than doubled my chicken population this weekend. I think I will have to look at selling some of them. I really don't need 50 chickens.
I got a digital temp/hygrometer this past weekend at a pet store. I do not know the maker off hand (I am at work right now and can't check). It is for reptiles. I talked to one of the guys working at the store and he said they are very reliable. I know the temperature sensor is accurate, I...
Kim can you see the two that came out at all? If they look normal and not sticky, I would leave your humidity alone. As more hatch the humidity is going to go up anyway. Good Luck!!!!!! So glad to hear that you are getting some chicks out of this hatch.
IMO 50% humidity before lockdown is a bit high. I have run it that high for the first 18 days and wound up with some sticky chicks. I try to keep it around 30 for the first 18 days. Just did a dry hatch (absolutely no water in the incubator for the first 18 days). I have no idea how low the...
