I don't think it's silly at all, mine started laying a few weeks ago, and to me it's like a treasure hunt. I must go out a few times a day just to check for eggs. Enjoy it and hae fun!

Ok all you experts. I ordered chicks and received them May 2nd. One was a surprise roo. I had already ordered a Roo for my fatherinlaw who I think has now changed his mind about having him. My question is..How hard will it be for me to keep 2 Roos? Will they fight if kept in the same coop...

Yes my son will be ok, long road of recovery ahead. But he is alive by Gods grace. I am with him in another city away from my girls, hubby says they are laying but not in the nesting boxes, he has put golf balls in now. Not laying as well as yours are though yet. Your eggs look awesome!

Try putting Vicks..the stuff for colds on him, especially the bare spots. It may stop the hens from pecking and pulling feathers. I put it on my chicks when they were pulling feathers and had bald spots. Worked like a charm.

Looks like my coop! Some roost as they should, some in the rafters sideways...and some cuddle in the corner near the door. No clue why they do that! Plenty of roosting room for sure. About a third of them are the floor folks and I believe they were the last ones to go in the coop at night...

It has gotten hot here...so I froze some 20 oz bottles...and I put them in the waterers to keep the water cool. The chicks and chickens seem to like that.

You're doing an awesome job! I'm having so much fun with my babies. What breed is the one in your pic, close to the BO black and standing by itself. It's a beauty.
