ok, so... isn't an easter egger, by definition, a mixed breed (mutt?) who lays a blue/green egg? so if she doesn't lay blue-green eggs, wouldn't that just make her a mutt? sorry about the confusion, i saw easter egger and immediately presumed all easter eggers laid blue green eggs...

cause the hen lays tan eggs but can't the rooster carry the gene too? so an ee roo over non-ee hens could still pass the gene along.

how do you know it won't carry the blue green gene?

is it a problem to hatch guineas and chickens together at the same time? i just realized today that i've got some overlap, and only have 1 hatcher.

i mark all eggs with at least breed/variety (in pencil) and sometimes set date for my own eggs so i don't forget when to put them in the hatcher... you need to send 6+, but many i think are way more generous than that. i got 11 guinea eggs, sent out 12 (i think?) dorkings x2, x3 etc is how...

well my swap's eggs are going out today... they seem to go on strike when it's cold and raining, and this week was no exception. LOL. i just wanted to have enough to send, since i've added a few pullets that were free ranging a bit over a week ago or so, so one or 2 of the eggs might be mixed...

well, i would pass on waterfowl and guineas, but have never tried turkies. i'm looking around for eggs right now (wild turkeys) but haven't found any sign of the nests yet... we've got 2 fairly large flocks on the property and hubby loves egging the toms on in the morning. LOL
