    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

What's LAB? I have 32 birds right now (29 of them are under 10 weeks) I fill the bucket up 3/4 with food and then top off with water and 1/4 cup of ACV.

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

So I've been fermenting feed for about 2 weeks now and like the way the birds look, however I have a lot of "waste" from my juicer. Can I put that into my fermented feed mix? Will it be harmful or helpful. Most of the time it's a mix of strawberries, blueberries, carrots, and apples. Sometimes...

Exactly, my chickens get rain water, it's cheaper than tap :)

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Here are the bids enjoying the new FF. They are absolutely ravenous, even the ducks love it. There was no hesitation at all from the birds.

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Took about 60 seconds for the chicks to realize the FF was food and they started to gobble it all up. I think we have a winner, now i just have to dig up some more buckets to start my next batch.

Is it possible that cannibalism in those circumstances can be due to bad breeding?

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

So I made a small batch yesterday afternoon. Looks like it takes about two days to be ready, so tomorrow will be test day for the birds. Here is what it looks like, would you say good or let it sit longer?

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

IMO they were far more dirty, they felt greasy when handled them and they spent most of the time bald. Not to mention they were so dumb, often times when they were free ranging I had to keep a close eye on them because they would go up near the stray cats. I also found it morally wrong to have a...

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Okay thanks, I'll go back and search for it. By the time it's done fermenting they'll be six weeks. Did you have CX birds or another breed. These are production reds. I didn't like CX birds so I vowed not to raise them this year.

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

So I did a small batch first. 64 oz of unmedicated chick starter and 64 oz of 7 grain scratch. It's in the bucket and is soaking. If it works well for the chicks then I'll keep out it. How many times a day do you all feed your birds?

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Okay so I'm starting my first batch tonight and I have a few questions. 1. Does anyone have a recipe? 2. I drink a lot of loose leaf tea can I toss the leftover tea leaves in the FF? 3. How much should I feed a day? 4. Should I feed the birds more than one time a day? Right now I feed my...

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Thanks, I'm just looking for a way to bulk up production red roos. They're already 5 weeks old and going to the processor first week of june. I could understand why someone with over a million birds would find it a waste of time. That's a lot of feed to ferment also he probably gets a better...

Does anyone have a chart of the difference between Fermented feeding and commercially fed birds, weight wise?

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

I skimmed through the thread and didn't see it, but could I pick up some cheap bags of wild bird seed and throw that into the fermented food mix? If so would it be okay for both my layers and my production red roos?
