    FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

Right from the start you can give it to them. Just make sure it's not too cold when it is fed. If you are using a heat lamp you can put it near the heat to keep it warmer.

Mine still bubbles away even though I add just enough water to make it an oatmeal consistency. I just feed out what I need to, add more feed and water to the same container and it's ready in 24 hours.

    FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

I had read that if it smells of alcohol or yeast gone bad not to use it. The sour smell that it should have indicates the presence of lactic acid which is the one you want working away in there.

I find the bearded girls get a bit messy in their beards but I've never had my Houdans top knots affected by the fermented feed.

She did make me feel a bit guilty. But she sure enjoyed the bread. Yes, plants are amazingly aware. I have to admit I do giggle at my relatives who are vegans. Science has discovered that plants communicate via the fungal networks that are everywhere in the soil. The plants that provide the...

Thanks for the recipe and information. I'm hand rearing baby finches at the moment which is time consuming, so when I have a bit of time I will try making sour dough. I'd have never thought about mixing the starter in different parts of the house. Brilliant! We don't eat a lot of bread either...

    FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

Wow - that's just scary! Our dog has only had flatulence when given something with too much fat in it. A whole duck frame or too much lamb brisket and she stinks! So we avoid the problem foods. In the past if she hasn't liked something we've given her she's buried it then dug it up again...

    FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

Raw feeding dogs is easier and cheaper than commercial foods provided you can access a variety of raw, meaty bones (avoiding weight bearing bones from cows), organs and green tripe from a range of animal sources. Carnivores cannot digest plants because their gut isn't long enough to break down...
