THE MOTHER'S DAY HATCH-A-LONG!!!! The last day to join in and set eggs with us is April 28th.

I took out the egg that had started to zip as I saw nothing happening. As I feared, the chick was dead. The other eggs have not pipped at all. I fear I have a lone chick. My broody is sitting on 2 eggs that should hatch soon. What should I do? Put this chick under her with the eggs or wait...

Okay--so I have one silkie chick out and nothing yet on the other 8 eggs. I am hoping that they are just late starters and will pip soon. My broody silkie is sitting tight on her 2 eggs and will destroy anything or anyone who comes near them. She is so cute. Please let this be a good hatch!!!

Okay Java---count me in. I will set some of my own silkie eggs this time and see what happens. By the time they hatch, the older chicks should be in the coop. I hope. Otherwise I will be juggling space for brooder boxes! My dh is going to kill me! I am not an addict...I am not an addict...
