    Two very different critters, same common name. Kinda like dolphins and dolphins.

    Do I want to know how it was the Princess's fault? Somehow, I'm picturing Alfred Molina in Raiders of the Lost Ark here. In my yard, you'd have to have been on stilts to get into the banana spiders. The writing spiders make their webs near ground level, but for some reason, the banana spiders...

    One of my favorite spiders is the Golden Silk Spider, sometimes called the Banana Spider because of its large yellow abdomen. The silk they make is YELLOW! Here's some cloth made from it:
