*Graphic Picture* Massive wound on chick...any ideas?

Thank you! I'm glad she's better too! I really thought she would have a permanent limp, but now that she's moved into a bigger cage and had time to stretch a little, her limp is almost completely gone! That's more than I could've hoped for! :D Huzzah for Josie! :D

It's been 3 days since I've heard/seen Josie having another of the seizures. Hopefully, those are gone forever! Her wound is completely healed, and she got to move outside today (since she's too active to stay in her box anymore!) into an empty rabbit hutch. She has a low roost to climb on...

I've stopped using it on her....she's still been doing it though. :( Not as much today....maybe it's finally getting out of her system? That's what I thought at first, what with her bringing her leg up and shaking it with her head. But she's not itching anything. I thought that maybe she had...

Okay, new problem. Her wound is healing up wonderfully! I think the oils have really helped especially! But the other night, we put aloe vera on her, and she's been acting really weird ever since. I don't know if she managed to ingest some of the aloe vera and if it's making her sick, or if...

Whoa! That's a big wound! I'm glad she survived in! :) Do you mind my asking where you're getting your blu-kote? None of the feed stores around here sell it....is it something that you buy online?

lol I meant to pick up grapes on Sunday while we were at the store, but I forgot them. x) So she's been eating blueberries. I tried offering her watermelon, but she wouldn't touch it. Picky little lady.... :)

I thought I'd share a few pictures I got of Josie a little while ago. I gave her a blueberry as a treat, and she loved it! I need to get another picture of the wound- when we rebandaged her last night, we noticed that the wound is considerably smaller! The skin is coming back! :D

You know what? "Chicken Death Wire" is an extremely appropriate name!! I'll be using that name from now on! :) I like the idea of using hardware cloth to repair my pen, although burying it might a problem because the pen is already set.....then again, I could just dig a trench and lay the wire...

I agree....usually i do put the chicken down. I had a lovely frizzle once that had this same thing happen to him, but by the time i found him, he was already smelling really bad. We did put him down. :( It can be so hard!! I will put sulfur powder on my list. Right now we are going back and...

I probably will keep Little Josie (she's been named! :D) inside for at least a month then....and if she's closed up by then, move outside into her own pen, away from the roosters and old cranky hens. x) That is so wonderful that she survived it, and is a happy little lady now. :D Really...

They really are! I have been keeping her on electrolytes the past few days. I'm looking for a good vitamin supplement for her now. We've got her unbandaged right now. I thought she would pick at herself, but she's really not, which is good. Thank you for the links! I read them all, and they...

Coons are bad. Plain and simple. x) I'm going to keep trying for a while, to see if she's going to start healing. Maybe I haven't given it long enough yet. I'll keep you posted on her progress. :) If you do find the link, I'd appreciate it if you could post it. :) Okay, I'll leave her...

I'm afraid I'm going to have to put this fine little lady down. :( This happened on Saturday night. I've had this monster raccoon roaming around...I think he was a mutant. x) He took the chicken wire of my pen and literally ripped apart. And he also took chicken wire that was heavily...
