In my country (Netherlands) they sell flowers labelled as being good for bees, but they have often too much poison to be healthy for bees.
So they are only good for bees in theory.
There was a lot of criticism about tgese bee unfriendly plants, it helped partially for plants sold within the...
What did you do in the garden today?
Having a veggie family BBQ ;)
Picking cherries, gooseberries, blueberries and fruits from a gooseberry-blackberry cross.
If the temp is near to 100F the eggs will be fine. No broody needed to keep tgem warm.
If she doesn’t return at all, start an incubator to take it over.
Yesterday I read about another broody who abandoned her eggs for a whole week or so, the eggs started started to pip and where hatched...
Never saw them in ‘our’ Lidl. Was there last Friday and checked the veggie department thoroughly, because I wanted to buy parsnip's, who seemed to be sold out.
I never ate Jerusalem artichokes after a first try a few years ago. They gave me serious stomach ache.
🤯 wtf. Why do they have this name?
I honoustly never saw these square buckets sold as common buckets in the Netherlands. Only rectangular ones for special purposes like cleaning or painting. And small square plastic containers with plants (often high for climbing plants) in garden centers.
As said, we don’t have your white Christmas Cactuses here. We say lid cactus to these type of cactus. Named after the leaves/pieces that grow in a row after each other.
People here buy so cold (translated) Christmas stars and Christmas roses (hellebores) .
These are my little Xmas stars...
This is the first time I see a white Schlumbergera . I rescued a pink one from dehydration last summer. It started to blossom in november.
I prefer gardening inside where the chickens don’t destroy the plants and I seem to have way less failures than outside. ;)
I think these led-bulbs are mainly meant for a dark spot in the house for plants (decorative) to stay healthy. And not to grow crops on a serious scale in a cellar or a garage. As far as I could figure it out (reviews) : rule of thumb is one led-lamp for each tomato or other large plant. 🪴
I throw lots of autumn leaves in the run every autumn to compensate the chicken poop. I guess the wood ash does about the same for the high levels of nitrates in the chickens poop.
In my country they sell these grow lights for 10 euro.

Are you sure you don’t have any scratch in your hands when you usually say these magic words?
And I wonder: where do you live?
Big egg town is Barneveld in the Netherlands for me.
Good afternoon gardeners,
We made an old, 2- 3 stones high, brick ‘wall’ 15 years ago. It almost disappeared over the years. My daughter renovated her house (open kitchen + extra window) and we got some extra bricks for free to level it up today.
It’s not meant as a fence (nobody is...
I bought organic crocuses to plant in the garden upcoming weekend. Love it that more and more organic plants are available nowadays. Good for the insects and the chickens.
