I came up with some names for my August babies, at least some of them. First, the Marans... Assuming she sticks with this pattern and doesn't suddenly go full cuckoo I will name her Astraea. Sorry I skipped a week, they aren't changing as fast. They're almost fully feathered and getting a bit big for the bin, but I'm not done with the new coop yet, so I might have to put them into the dog cages with the rest of the flock temporarily. Can't be really sure from that angle, How red is 'her' comb and do the tail feathers show a distinctive downward curl? These are usually good indicators of a 'roo.- FlyWheel

Two weeks now, and everybody's still healthy and happy. They're feathering out nicely. Two of the 'chipmunks' look as if they are going to be rather similar, the one with the 'mottled' head fur the same just browner. The pale yellow's feathers are coming out pale yellow and light...- FlyWheel

Welcome to chicken ownership. My BA usually starts singing about an hour before it gets light too. My coop is far enough from the house that I just hear him. I tend to wake early anyway, so I actually find myself listening for his first notes! Kinda tells me everything is alright. Glad to hear...- FlyWheel
