    Help!....My son wants a dog!

Look for a dog/puppy with a friendly disposition. Lick your hands, waggy tail and happy greeting. Stay away from the shy and timid dogs. I learned my lesson well... I hope.;) Good luck.

    Help!....My son wants a dog!

2 litters a year with the same female dog is very cruel in my opinion. That is over breeding. If they are show dogs and have a few female dogs bred in the same year is fine. Make sure it's not a puppy mill either. My parents bred once every 2-5 years. Not often and always champion dogs...

    Help!....My son wants a dog!

I honestly think its ridiculous that some dogs cost more then a couple hundred dollars. I would never pay $1000 for any animal. We don't have that kind of money laying around. Every dog is different and each has their own unique personality. My parents have shown dogs since they married 45...

    Help!....My son wants a dog!

A good breeder will have expensive dogs. 1,000$ or more. You'll run into the same issues with a backyard breeder. Not all dogs are bad at the shelters. I'd find one friendly from the start and not shy. Find a dog or puppy with a waggy tail and lots of licks on your hands and face. Looks...

    Help!....My son wants a dog!

There's a big difference in snapping and playful biting. I have two big dogs that are bad tempered towards other people and strangers. :(. I decided to keep them and put them away when company arrives. We are building a 4 acre fence for them to roam around in. I have muzzles as well and I do...

    Help!....My son wants a dog!

Your doing the right thing. I hope you have a better experience next time. You won't be able to be refunded, but given a credit for a new dog. The best dog to get is a happy one right from the start. Do not buy a pup that is shy or timid. You'll have the same issues. Good luck!

    Help!....My son wants a dog!

The dog is so new. He's very frightened in his new environment. He feels safe in the kennel, when your son tried removing him, he felt threatened. This is not the dogs fault. If you decide to keep this dog, your son must learn to respect him. This means not picking him up out of the kennel...

    Help!....My son wants a dog!

I have a Golden and Aussie. Both protect the property and yard. I have to put both away when company arrives. They both have the potential to bite.:/. I have muzzles for both, but I somehow misplaced them. They can be around company with muzzles. One thing is they both like the chickens. I'm...

    Help!....My son wants a dog!

It took me 10 years to convince hubby to get a dog. We now have 2! I wouldn't have it any other way.:p. Our first puppy is a golden retriever. A year later we rescued a young Australian shepherd. I love having dogs as a part of our family. They get along well with the chickens and they both...
