Lookin' Good! You and I have at least that in common. I do what I want and husband will get over it eventually. One year, my daughter and I took a picture of the emu and texted it to him with the caption "it could be worse." Not sure he found it funny, but we enjoyed the joke.
Sorry, I don't get alerts on my phone, so I didn't know you posted. I will be at the Adams county fairgrounds on Oct 20 for a show. Should be close for you....
Here's the babies now at 5 and 8 weeks. One of the bigger ones is a cockerel. You are welcome to have him anytime. Not sure where you are. I am in Evergreen, but will be at a show on Saturday in Longmont/Boulder area.
Uzisuzuki, you are an addict. I've managed to hatch 4 this year, pretty sure one of the two old chicks is male. They are only 4 weeks old and 3 weeks old, so have a bit of growing yet to do. Our winter, although mild, lasted until June, so our hen didn't lay until almost July. Have two hens, but...
my daughter has a breeding project of Belgian d'Anvers, so I'm always unloading the cockerels free/$5.00 and I always manage to get rid of them. Sold several young Am last spring and they went quick. We did a flock reduction last fall and sold them for between 10-20. The $10 girls were molting...
I've sold/rehomed all sorts of chickens thru craigslist. Met some really nice people too. I've been to the Denver dog swap, which is small, and the Whardle's swap too, which is bigger.
lomine- What type/ color Am's do you raise? I have black LF. There was a cl posting for rehoming paul smith...

Hi Brandon- There's a poultry show at the boulder county fairgrounds this weekend. Check in starts at 4 on friday and we're usually there until 8. Judging is saturday. Anyway, many times there are chickens for sale. Come early if interested because they usually go fast! Good luck!
Hi lomine-
I've been playing around with hatching at altitude for about a year now. It's like Christmas, only more frustrating and you don't get what was on your list. My hatch rate runs around 50% on a good day, 0% on a bad. Having said this, my incubator hatches are not "typical". Right now, I...
Has anyone else on this thread noticed a decrease in egg production since the eclipse? I thought mine were getting ready to molt, but then another chicken raising friend said hers aren't laying either.....weird.
Howdy everyone! I agree it has been quiet! Personally, I've just been trying to get the human kids through the last week of school. My Ameraucana babies are getting big. Sadly lost 2 to a racoon last night. My daughter doesn't know yet, so can't say I'm super excited to have that conversation...
Ah, yes! The things we do for our pets. I have kept my daughters (probably not legal) rooster in my acura rdx all last summer until I finished building his more soundproof "man cave". He goes into his man cave Friday and Saturday nights so the neighbors (and husband) can sleep in.
Yeah! Just got a call from Clifton Redden last night to confirm my order will be shipped today!! Will be getting black and blue AMs. So excited, the brooding pen has been set up for 3 weeks now waiting for them. Only took me a year and a half to finally get an order! Been working on their...
Hi Cluckylady-
It's at least a 3 and a half hour drive depending on where you are. Basically a long way. I picked up some swedish flower chicken eggs yesterday. Just moved my broody hen to the broody box with some of her unfertile eggs and am waiting to see if it sticks. Started the eggs in...
