can anyone identify this paw print?

Who needs free range time when they can live long happy and safe lives in chicken heaven. If they could talk you would overhear them saying "It don't get no better". We don't have "runs". We have Five Star Resorts. Now excuse me while I see if my guest need anything.

Good post over there. I'm sure it will help save a chicken or chickens life and save somebody some heartache. You have took your bad experience and made it a opportunity to help others.

can anyone identify this paw print?

You may have seen this thread cheeka but I started it sometime back for people who have lost their chickens/pets/loved ones to predators. Its nearing 10,000 views and many people have been educated (including myself) on different ways predators can get your chickens and ways to prevent it from...

can anyone identify this paw print?

Makes me sad and mad. But for us life goes on. A lesson learned. My shotgun would be loaded with #4 shot or larger. BB loads would be better yet. But the ultimate load would be Double 00 Buck. He won't know what hit him with Double 00 Buckshot. Give him the same quick humane kill he gave your...

So sorry my friend. I know they bring you lots of joy as mine do me. We learn and take comfort in the fact that it was over quickly. It could have happened to any of us. Will be here when you need BYC friends. Take care.

can anyone identify this paw print?

Food is plentiful this time of the year. They can find crayfish (crawlfish in Kentucky) and minnows in creeks and streams. They eat berries and raid gardens. They love corn. So it is tougher to trap a coon this time of the year but it can be done. In the winter when the ground is frozen and food...

can anyone identify this paw print?

If possible put the cats up when you set the trap for the coons. They may wander in there just out of curiousity and habit from finding food in there but if you do catch them its no big deal. They won't be after the marshmellows. All of my cats have been in a trap at least once.

can anyone identify this paw print?

Here is what I would do. Prop the door to the trap open so it will not close. Wire it open or a good stick that won't fall out. I know you have cats. Start feeding the cats their regular food next to the trap and put food inside the trap as well. You won't catch them with the door wired open. At...

can anyone identify this paw print?

I wouldn't worry too much about free range. If you get a visit from the coon it will most likely be at night. They for the most part are nocturnal and if your out there with them I don't think you will have any problem. Besides even if you catch a coon there are plenty more to take its place...

I let Roger free range (actually he escaped) and he ran clean out of sight thru the woods but he/she is not mentally stable.

can anyone identify this paw print?

Will be interesting to see what you catch. Wasn't much doubt when I saw those tracks in the bottom of the water pan. But you know that part of the country better than me. Thanks for the congrats regarding the big egg day. We had a big party out in the run this afternoon. I took the first bite...

can anyone identify this paw print?

A coon will eat almost anything. They will find a food source anywhere. We have to tie our trash can lids on around here to keep the coons out of the garbage.

can anyone identify this paw print?

I bet you catch the neighbors cat... lol. Depends who gets there first. But you will catch a coon with marshmellows. Probably more than one. Put one or two marshmellows near the entrance to the trap (freebies or samples) then a couple more half way in the trap. The rest in the back of the trap...

can anyone identify this paw print?

Coon tracks. Coons love water and get into the water dish that I have for my cats. I find those tracks in the bottom of the dish all the time. Coons are for the most part nocturnal so you won't see them often. If your trap is large enough for a coon you might catch one tonight. Coons love sweets...
