Wow yall have had some freaking weird eggs LOL, my Whitey Leghorn layed a 2.9 oz one day, then a 3.1 oz (her biggest) the next day, took a day off, then laid another 2.9oz....then takes like 4 days off LOL...
First pic is Whitey's 2.8oz & a silkie egg. Second pic is the 4 huge whitey eggs we...
Yea 2.9 is about my leghorns "jumbo" size eggs, her biggest was 3.5 once or twice in her life but yea lol, after this last moult she's laid nothing but jumbo's for some reason :) which we love!
Yea, lately mine have been cracking theirs accidentally I think, have some young girls in there & so after it was broke, I think they ate it - so yea not a good habit.
I have another egg from Whitey, except this time its huge & SOFTSHELLED!!!, It was actually really hard to break the soft shell, & the yolk was huge & stood up like 1/2 an inch! She just dropped it out while sitting up on the roost, it bounced down in the straw!
Interesting pics, that one with the "dye" all over it in that line definately stayed in the later part of the process for longer I would imagine - I think...lol...
I haven't really had anymore weird egg lately...Whitey's molting so no more big eggs for a while...
Those eggs w/the part...
Yea I know how you feel LOL, we've had our GLW's since they were 2.5 wks old, they are finally about to hit 16 wks!!, anyone know when Regular Wyandotte hens start layin?
That's pretty funky lookin, but yea, it is common in new layers; I read on here someone got dble yolkers from their new pullets, and some got "no-yoklers" lol, so yea everything in between too I'm sure
These 16 eggs I think are mainly coming from 2 chickens, possibly 3, whitey obviously lays all the white 1's, she's had some funky ones.....
Whitey's big egg vs. her normal egg size
Whitey's other BIG dbl yolker....
Any lastly whitey's BULLET EGG!!!
