Yeah, we're at 2500' or so and I've seen them higher than that. We've had several bad wildfires over the past three years and I think that moved the snakes around. We've always had lots of rubber boas and bull snakes.

Makes me really nervous with a 1yr old daughter...we do keep all of the brush, grass, weeds mowed down...
