    Growing fodder for chickens

I have a question. I can't grow my fodder for 4 days before it grows mold, and I like to feed my birds the wheat grass, which means I grow it for about 6 days or so. I've been using bleach but it still hasn't been stopping the mold. I am looking into using peroxide, but all I have is the...

    Growing fodder for chickens

I guess I could do that, but I would much rather feed them the grass which is much more nutritious and cost effective.

    Growing fodder for chickens

Well, it's that time of the year again! The grass outside has stopped growing and my chickens have started to eat my potted plants, including the precious basil plant! *Eeek!* So, you know what that means; it's time for fodder! I haven't posted on this thread since last winter, and I am so...

    Growing fodder for chickens

I'm looking for some help. All the fodder I've grown so far has turned out moldy. I want to use bleach to stop the mold but I don't know exactly how to. I was thinking the best idea is soaking it in bleach instead of spraying it with it (I don't got no time for that!). How much bleach should I...

    Growing fodder for chickens

Does anyone know if it's normal for wheat seed sprouts to have hairy stuff on the roots? I'm not sure if its just part of the roots or mold. It looks fine otherwise. :idunno

    Growing fodder for chickens

I fed my chickens the fodder yesterday and they loved it! They were begging for more! I have gotten some more trays that I've poked holes in the bottom and now I'm just waiting for my big bag of wheat to arrive. Can't wait to make more!

    Growing fodder for chickens

Hmm, my wheat is sprouting pretty well but the top layer of seeds seem a little dry and isn't as sprouted as the bottom layer. Am I doing something wrong?

    Growing fodder for chickens

I've tried that. It works okay but if there's millet in it, the millet molds.

    Growing fodder for chickens

I really want to grow fodder for my chickens, but I haven't been able to find any plain wheat. The closest I've come is bird seed that has millet, black oil sunflower seeds and wheat. I've gotten 2 small trays and made holes in the bottom so water can drain. I set them by the window, and we...
