    Growing fodder for chickens

I had trouble with mold, but things are clearing up nicely. I was using foil trays, but any bends would trap water. So I have plastic bins with LOTS of tiny holes for drainage. I also prefer to do wheat and barley in seperate bins. I found when one molded, the other didn't.it was usually the...

So my seed had weevils too. This was before fodder. FOOD GRADE DE got rid of them all. I would think that it wouldn't interfere with sprouting, but haven't used it in sprouting seed. The birds can eat it. I had weevils and red ants, sprinkled DE, and they were gone. My seed is into garage 90+...

So you make a bag out of the burlap. How much can you put in before it molds? Do the seeds have to be flat or just a pile ok?

I had some issues with mold and am happy to say adding peroxide to the rinse water has helped trendously! I do have oyster shell on the bottom of the pan, but grit would work well too. Seems to be working well for me now

Great info! I had mold in some aluminum trays so I will try these ideas . I added even more holes but I like the oyster shell in the bottom. Maybe it'll add more air flow. And I Definately want to add h202 to the everyday rinse water. A lot of waiting for nothing on a few trays with mold coming...

    Growing fodder for chickens

Can I sprout in foil containers? I have the small and big ones from Costco. I can sprout in the small with drainage holes and place in the big to catch any extra water. Should be fine but I know metal reacts to some components and haven't seen it used before for seeds

new here and great info. was wondering when people say to soak in hydrogen peroxide: they don't mean the whole first 24 hours do they? or is that just a rinse of the tray? sounds unsafe to soak them in anything but water, but that's what i'm here to learn :) i put a tray outside because it's...
