All tonight while I was washing birds, cleaning the pens, and dusting, I did not find one mite, dead or alive. It looks like I will be able to show this weekend! :) I did dust everything heavily and put on a tiny bit of Frontline on the two birds. Tomorrow night I will check again to be sure...
Hi everyone,
I know I mentioned the other day that my birds picked up mites. Tonight I got then Frontline, and I gave them baths in flea shampoo and dusted them again. I have never had to deal with mites before though, so I have no clue where I should put the Frontline on them. By the vent or...
Oh, I've been to shows before - and I love them! At one point I actually won Grand Champion in my showmanship class. Whether or not I actually get to show, I'm going to the banquet, as we already bought tickets, and I'm for sure going to look. I'm looking for some Seramas. It's just so...
Those look like hatchery quality Silver Laced Wyandottes. Nothing wrong with hatchery Wyandottes, the lacing just isn't as good on them. I loved all my hatchery SLW's. They lay very well and are super sweet.
I'm going. I was supposed to show, but unfortunately the bird I was going to show got mites... I think I caught them in time and am going to do major treatment tonight, and see how things are looking on Friday as to whether I'll go to show or not.
Does anyone know of anyone who will be bringing a pair or trio of SQ Seramas to the PNPA show next weekend? I have one chick that I hatched from shipped eggs. There was one more that hatched, but unfortunately, she jumped out of the brooder one day while I was gone and got too cold. :( It was...
Does anyone know of any SQ Serama, Wyandotte bantam, or frizzle Cochin bantam breeders who have 1-5 day old chicks available? I just hatched a Serama and it's looking like the other ones aren't going to hatch, and the one that's zipping is having issues so it probably won't make it either :( I...
Missing tail feathers could be a sign of mites. Before you take them home and even put them in the car, check them for mites/lice and if they have some don't buy them.
Not trying to spread rumors or be judgemental. But I actually talked to one of my good friends' this weekend (I actually brought the cockerel to show them) and they told me not to associate with this person because they weren't honest. That's what led me to believe that this person sold me a...
Hi everyone... I thought I should let everyone know this. A couple weekends ago I went to a small 4-H poultry show. I was looking for birds to show this spring, and found a good trio of Wyandottes to start out with for $65. They all seemed fine and healthy at the show, and the person I purchased...
One of the hens knows I'm the treat giver, but were still working on the whole trust/respect thing. Especially with Nebula. Last night before his bath when we went to catch him he scratched us a good couple times but once he was in our hands he was fine.
