I'm guessing there's a much higher chance of getting White Wheatens in your F2s than my Lavender Wheaten project (6%), since you're working with dominant white? What is the percentage you are expecting?
Hatched my first LAVENDER WHEATEN last week!! So excited about this project. Hoping to hatch 8-10 this year (which means hatching 100-150 F1 eggs!) and select the best for breeding next year. I'll also be starting a completely unrelated line this year. :)
But you're forgetting that her genes will be in that line indefinitely. Diluted each generation, yes. But still there.
Exactly! I want to see this project from start to finish, and I've definitely got the dedication for it!
I've been in contact with her, and she did offer some eggs, but I think it'd be best if not every Lavender Wheaten in the US had the same genetic background. So, I decided to go at it alone... Sometimes it's more fun that way! :)
Yep! I'm super excited about this project! I'm planning to start out with two separate lines of F1s. That will add genetic diversity as well as quantity for hatching out as many eggs as possible.
I've also got chicks for a three-generation project of Isabel Laced Orpingtons (and EEs). I've...
I saw someone mention that they had seen Red Pyle "Americanas" on ebay. I think they were advertising them as "snow and fire"? Or something strange like that... Not sure how pure they are, or even if they are the correct gene sequence for true Red Pyle, but it could be worth checking out...
