One of my new girls (not sure if it's a Partridge Rock or a Light Brahma) have started laying their first small, brown eggs. I ate one yesterday morning and it was fertilized! First time having a rooster so I guess I should expect that. It was a good egg though!
Hi everyone!
I am a 4-H Poultry Exhibitor looking for breeders in Minnesota who breed show-quality birds. Not looking for any particular breeds, but I would like to get some brown-egg layers. I live in the Metro area of Minnesota. I'm willing to pay for expensive birds. If you are able to sex...
Really? Ducks are better layers? I suppose for Muscovies and Khaki Campbells (I really want some!). But others only lay 60-100 per year, tops. Some lay less, too. I've heard duck eggs are huge.
Thanks! Those accidents that somehow screw up everything up! I certainly hope the weather warms up soon, my New Hampshires pullets are going to be about ten weeks, so I can put them in with my other flock.
I'm also from MN, practically next to the Wisconsin border. I have Barred Rocks, Red Sex-Links, Black Sex-Links, and White Leghorns, also will be getting New Hampshires this Saturday!
