Not sure....but I figured they all matured at their own pace....and these two are just early bloomers. Either way.... I'm lovin' it!

They have been on grower feed for a long time.....only had them on chick starter for about the first month or so. Only 2 of 23 are laying.

UPDATE: We now have 2 chickens laying. We finished the nest boxes and hung them up last night. Went out today to find one of the girls nestled inside....an hour later, went out and found an egg. On the other hand, we also found an egg outside in the run....will have to do some training...

hmmm, I think I'll tell the gf that I don't want the chickens. She won't be happy....but, oh well.

Will I need to quarantine even if I know where they are coming from, and know that they are healthy birds?

I have 24 chickens....will 10 nest boxes be enough? Also.... my son's gf wants to bring 5 more chickens to us (her 4-H leftovers)....will that disrupt my flock?

ok... thanks for the info. The shells look good on the 3 eggs that I've gotten so far...so I think I'll wait on the oyster shell til the majority start laying also. Tomorrow we are building nest boxes!!

Where do I get it.... I haven't seen it at Rural King where I buy feed.

Went out to do chores this a.m., and there was a tiny egg by the feed bucket. My girls are only 3 1/2 mos., I thought they wouldn't start laying until 5 or 6 mos. I'm not sure which one is laying, but I suspect a Buff Orp. Is this common? or do I have an "early bird"? Do I need to provide...
