[/IMG] Hi everyone! It's been quite a spell since I've been on here but I knew this was the place to go with a chicken question! I'm super excited, my buff orp has been sitting on a nice clutch of eggs since the first week of march and my curiosity is getting the better of me. The only fertile...

Hello everyone! I'm really needing some help today with a duckling! One of my broody chickens has been sitting on a duck egg. Two days ago I noticed it was just starting to pip. Yesterday it still hadn't hatched but I could hear it peeping so I left it alone. Today I went out to check on it and...

So happy to hear your dog will recover! It sounds like he has had a guardian angel watching over him, being saved from a bad home and surviving a run in with a car! Best wishes for a quick recovery!:)

I'll definitely post some pics as they grow! I couldn't be any prouder than if I'd sat on them myself, lol! Ive never had an incubator, only the broody hens, so I can't help you there. But yes, I'm sure there's a lot of us that know exactly what you mean about having to "sit on your hands"! :P

Quick question! This is the little bit of fluff that hatched yesterday, now that it's all dry it's still a very pretty light silvery color! Can anyone tell me what color this might end up? I looked up silver chicks and saw some silver partridge silkie chicks that look about the same color? It's...

I feed my turkey poult, guineas, and young chicks scrambled eggs and/or boiled eggs (with shell) everyday just to give them a little extra protein while their growing. I give the same to the older birds a couple times a week. I always have more eggs than I can eat so I dole them out to the...

Two more chicks hatched! The butterscotch colored one yesterday, and the silver colored chipmunk this morning! I'm glad I've been checking so often, the "mamas" had this latest one pushed completely out of the nest. It was cold and wet when I found it, but dry and toasty and chirping now with...

Have you tried tuna or a can of catfood for bait? We get them in our barns every year and that's what we use for bait. We always get em with it, the trick is not catching one of the cats! Lol!

I couldn't resist! Here's a pic from last year of one of the little cats making friends with the chickens! They're discussing the finer points of dirt scratching! Haha:lol: And then here's 2 chicks that have hatched from under my broody sussex hens. The chipmunk one was born 4 days ago and the...

Good grief! I had to laugh when I read that! I couldn't imagine NOT having outside cats around here! This old farm was overrun with rats and mice and pigeons when we moved here! We tried poisons and traps and they didn't even put a dent in the rodent population! You know what worked? Cats!! Lol...

So sorry you lost your baby! :( We lost our little turkey yesterday to one of our dogs. It was a BBwhite and I know they aren't meant to live long anyway but it was just the friendliest little thing and we're really going to miss it! The BBB that was growing up with it has been peeping and...
