    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Would you allow someone to trap on your property near your chickens? We use live traps near our coop. If there was an interest, we would let a hunter/trapper use their traps at night, when my chickens are not free ranging. Why or why not? We live in a very rural area with an abundance of...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

@Faraday40 We had them for a little while. Chicks 2 and 3 look like females. I am suspicious of chick 1. It may be the flash, but it seems like a little red coming in on the chest. I can't believe how fast they have grown! Ours were adults when we got them, so I didn't get to see them as chicks.

I haven't been on for a while, so still have 10 pages or so of catching up to do. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I love all the pics of chics! DH and I are already itching for chics lol. He actually came to me and had started plans for an in the coop brooder. @jchny2000 we are likely...

8-12 eggs a day with 20 layers, but most of mine are first year pullets. Out of my older hens, only one is laying and it is only an egg or two a week. Most of them are nearly done with their molt though. Some of my older girls are retired and just pets. Out of my pullet group, I think a few will...

My kids go nuts for cheeseball. You can easily make it look like a brain.

I get several eggs like that. I don't think there's anything wrong, just speckled pigment. That's what I've assumed so far anyway.

I haven't been on much. It seems like most of us have a lot going on. It's a busy time of year! We also have had some health issues with my son. Plus my truck has also been in the shop 3 times in a month and going back again next week. I've only owned it for 5 months....makes the next several...

Sorry about the losses. I agree with @Leahs Mom . Post some pics to see if anyone can help. It will keep coming back, now that it knows how to get a free dinner.

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

We were back and forth with the idea of covering it, but when we moved them to the coop, they loved hiding from the afternoon sun under there, so we left it alone. Half of the run has roof and half has hardware cloth. They just prefer the coolness under there I think. But I have always worried...

I didn't realize there was a risk. We did bring home a Cocci chick from TSC when we first started out 6 months ago, but all have been fine since. This flock has not ever left their coop and run, since going in. I still have Corrid on hand though, so I will treat the rest as a precaution. I am...

Thought I should update. Our pullet passed away this evening. We finally got her out from under the coop and in the cage, but never even made it inside. I picked her up to check her out and she immediately started losing a bunch of clear fluid out her beak. I could tell that she wasn't going to...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Something is wrong with one of our EE pullets. When I let everyone out this morning, she was laying under the nest boxes. I just though she might be trying to lay her first egg, so I let her be. I went back out a few hours later, anxious to see what color it was, but there was no egg and I...

My tomatoes took a turn for the worse when we had that first wet spell. They fought some kind of blight for over a month. Then once I was sure they were dead, they started coming out of it. They look like brand new plants...but I doubt I will get much out of them. It's just getting too late. The...
