    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

We pasture our flock(currently 24 hens) I need a boy that is going to be friendly with people but stick up for his ladies. They tend to roam all over when we don't have a rooster. I don't so much care about the breed as the temperament and size. Are barred rock rooster was hands-down the best...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hey y'all! It's been ages since I've been on here, but thought I'd pop in and see if anyone in Northern Indiana had any Barred Rock roo's that needed a home (I'm happy to buy one). We lost ours to a predator a few days ago and he was just the sweetest thing ever. I'd really like to get another...

Thanks! It's been a rough week with the birds for sure. I checked in Sav's mouth and I think it's dry pox. I've still got her quarantined for the time so that I can make sure she is eating. I think I'm going to go ahead and treat everyone for worms just to rule out that possibility.

They are all mixed breed, but one is 3/4 Barred Rock and it would be hard to tell him from a full blooded rooster. He's beautiful and definitely my favorite. Of the other two one resembles a darker BR with some green and red on his wings and saddle and the third is a grizzled gray and red.

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hey y'all. I know I haven't been on in basically forever, but I'm worried I have something spreading through my flock and I'm kind of freaking out. I've link to the thread below. Has anyone else experienced any sudden deaths this summer...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Off to bed to sleep off a crummy night. Lost 2 birds to either a coon or a coyote. I got outside in time to find one. She had a broken neck and died in my arms. I feel like I failed them. I know those of us that choose to free range always run this risk, but it just stinks when we're reminded of...

I'm officially coming to live with you. I want a zedonk in the WORST way!!! I've always wanted to go to the exotic auction and just haven't gotten there yet. I about hit the floor when you I read that you think he's calm and quiet! Make me wonder what a normal guinea must be like because he was...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

My only bit of advice is get there early. The good stuff tends to go fast. I've seen some really rough looking poultry and some really quality looking poultry. I've found it's hit or miss, but there is always a lot to choose from. Definitely!

I love this idea! Our birds free range, but we have an enclosed run for when we are out of town. Even with them spending limited time in it it still gets nasty. Even better that we can then put it in the garden every year! I'm probably going to be there. Haven't made it yet this year. Always...

@bradselig sorry for the loss of your Cochin. :( I'd offer to let you have the one I get from you back, but she's pretty much my favorite hen now! I can't believe I waited so long for a Cochin. @jchny2000 So sorry about your keets and like someone already said, make sure you are taking care...

No Tolbunts?!?!?! So much sadness, though they are still stinking cute! Have you tried the hanging fly traps? They smell like rotting animal carcass, but they work really well. Well, the rooster is gone, the guinea is gone, I added two pullets and we did kind of adopt a stray cat. He's been...

Ok y'all. I'm at a loss... For the last 2 weeks my ladies egg production has plummeted! I have 8 (out of 16) girls that are around a year old. We normally get 5-7 eggs a day. We are lucky if we get any right now. There was not a single egg yesterday. It's like they all got together and decided...

Yup! We call it the same thing. If you have any of the cinnamon sugar topping left from the box (sometimes it gets licked clean around here) it goes really good in coffee! Still not 100 sure which day we're coming. I'm trying for Sunday, but we'll see what happens.

I knew it!!!! I kept looking at the photo thinking to myself... "this is a trick post". It did get cold last night! I couldn't believe how chilly it was when I got up this morning. In other news my mean guinea is going to live with @jchny2000 where he will have a much happier life with his...

Please let me know. He's currently locked up in a dog crate and I feel terrible, but he can't be trusted with the little chickens anymore. I really want to find him a home where he'll be happy.

He's yours if you want him. I hate to get rid of him since I've had him for over a year, but he's just so stinking mean. I'll feel better knowing he'd be with other guineas.
