My Dad looked into raising meat chickens for Tyson one time because he wanted the manure for his fields. It didn't occur to me that the chicks weren't hatched by the growers and had to be moved.
Oh. Okay, okay. I met a guy in Tractor Supply a few days ago that hatches and trucks chicks out of state. Wish I could have picked his brain a little more He didn't mention anything about the chicken's living conditions, though.
I may actuall
Oh, I imagine they'll be awesome free rangers. It's just that they're not show quality. I only read a little dab about then when I first got mine, and I know that their tail color is off. But they aren't too bad. Not polish-crested or anything.
Well, I'm not really interested in breeding Appy's, and I have five Roo's as it is. Sorry. :(
You're not breeding for show or to sell though? Just for personal enjoyment? Of the former is true, I would recommend buying from an established breeder rather than a hatchery.
Looks like I'm going to have only one chick hatch out of the three I set.
:barnie WINTER. Three eggs all week. One egg was clear, one hatching, but the other :idunno
Is there a slight chance anyone has a day-to-day chick or two they would be willing to part with?
Know where I can find some...
Wow thanks! I've been looking for that.
Camdenton is crazy! Those roads are so confusing. We are an hour and 45 minutes from there, but we passed through it to get to the fair.
It did rain. And rain and rain and rain. The chickens ended up getting out early. 3:00 instead of 8:00 p.m. I learned me a few lesson about chicken showing, though.
A judge from a previous show gave me some tips on breeding my Marans and really liked this particular hen I had. Well, the judge...
I guess I will miss seeing you, then. We are on our way there now. Who won the junior show, by the way?
Sorry to hear about the judge getting whacked like that... I go kicked once, but to this day, I don't know where I was struck. Head, probably. :p
