Okay....I have 2 broodies that seem committed. This is a new thing for me as my ladies are only about 10-11 months old. I am wondering if any one any where near west St. Louis county has hatching eggs for sale. Will likely be hatching these for someone I know who lost the last of their...

Hey solomine! I ordered some from them last year, I called my post office by code, and was given the correct office to call (they one I called was not the sorting/pick up office) in Ballwin. All of my chicks (7) arrived alive and well, though a day late because of the major heat wave last...

He's a handsome fellow! Ours follow us around and "help" if we are in the garden. They and the CL are the most hawk vigilant and do the best at "hiding". The Brahmas are just large and lovely and "taste testers" for everything. One of our Faverolles, Kiwi, is actually our flock leader and is...

Faverolles are such great birds! They are some of (if not THE) favorites here in behavior. The Cream Legbars aren't far behind though! DH loves his GL Brahmas!

Getting ready to try fodder here. Also debating trying bees, either mason or honey. Thinking mason to start, since they are such great pollinators and easier to do, but really want to try honey bees. We are going more ambitious with the garden this year. Will still do roma, green zebra, and...

Hope everyone and their animals are doing alright after all this cold. Does it have anyone else looking to spring and planning their gardens for the coming year?

Yikes ocap! Put vaseline on the BR, CL, Wyandotte yesterday to try and help prevent combs/wattles from getting frostbite. While they aren't happy about being "cooped" up, with the wind and 10"+ we already have here, it's for the best. Good luck to everyone!

Hope everyone is ready for tonight! Put plastic on the screen windows and added more shavings (another bale) to the deep litter. New bag of food arrived today! Ready for the 8-12 inches they are calling for, but really hoping 0 isn't going to be the high tomorrow!

Poodles were as water retrievers, smart dogs (the standards!). I can relate Rox, my boys break into the feed bags if they can, and clean up the yard after the chickens....lovely

I love Standard poodles, mostly from a grooming aspect, lol. My DH though, loves everything about them but their coat, he wants to get one in the near future. Your party is much different looking than the one I groom! Much more practical, but I love the fun stuff on them!

Ahh....I've heard heelers and cattle dogs have a higher prey drive. Only know some with cattle dogs, and they are even rough on the sheep! Herding dogs are simply the best! I see! Figured it was just the pics (and how they looked on my phone with only a cup of coffee down!), lol. She is...

My other Aussie mostly ignores them, he's not even in the pic, lol. Thankfully they have both been around livestock (mostly ducks) as part of their herding trial training. Both are retired now from that and agility. Tanner is my almost 14 year old cancer survivor......and my first dog. My...

Just some updated pictures! The first was taken about 1 1/2 - 2 weeks ago, the second was taken just a couple of days ago! That's my 70 lb red tri Aussie Tanner with them, "protecting" them, lol!

Thanks Jacquie, really trying to figure out a way to keep them since Brahmama is having hawk issues, and she was who they were going to go to. Just as long as they have good homes, but we really enjoy them, they have the best little "awkward ostrich" run ever, and such lovely personalities.

PS-The city has actually now put an official ban on chickens, so we will definately be looking for a new home in the next couple of years! We want a few acres and goats and llamas along with many more chickens! This suburb thing is just starting to get old......

Ok, so after all the battle with the city, I can have 7 hens, but cannot replace after they pass, can't add too, just sucks. What also sucks is that I have 9 pullets here, so because of the city and their limits on coop size (had to take down my first and go through a major process just to get...

Have you checked over on the Brahma thread? There are some stellar breeders over there, but not sure if/how many are in MO. There are a few in TX, and I think one in IN and IL. Not sure what colors they have though. Best of luck in finding your buff!!!!
