Is there any reason you use the knock-out type of rose over any other variety? I'm thinking about adding more roses to my flowerbed (it's got the only living things that don't have to pay for themselves in one way or another... but I guess they do, in visual aesthetics, LOL!), and if there's...
I just recently got a young bantam barred Cochin, a girl, I believe. That is, assuming the gender color difference is the same in these little ones as it is in the LF breeds like Dominique and Barred Rock. She's about 7 weeks old. I don't know anything about her bloodlines, but she is a doll...
Hello to all of you, , welcome to "chickening" , and welcome to our Missouri thread!
I would also like to invite you to our Chicken Swap of Missouri Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/groups/225021300913860/
You will learn a lot both here on BYC and there in the Facebook group. Both...
I've been following your story from afar, and read the links today of your battles. I hope you and the other chicken owners can band together with enough backing to make that so-and-so back down!
It was fun, and it was huge, just like the first time I went. As usual, I left with more chickens than I came with... but at least the ones I sold more than paid for the ones I bought.
I imagine you already have that answer figured out, Mamabear66, but, yes, I am. (I'm Mary Ann)
Hello...
Having learned more about the Cochins I bought to get some trios out of, it turns out they're not so great after all I think the blues will make a trip to Jacob's Cave this weekend to fine new homes, and probably at least half of my silver-laced.
I'll have to chalk this up to a "learning...
Ooh, I hope those geese aren't unfriendly... I've heard they can be terrors!
My silver-laced little ones are very pretty , and since the young man is just getting started, his prices were beyond excellent.
Discovered I didn't have any good pics of them, or I'd show them off... will have...
I just a few weeks ago bought some from a young man who is just starting out in breeding them. He is near Butler, MO. He posted in a facebook page about them... I'll see if I can find the page link if you wish.
He has (or had when I got mine) silver laced and blue cochins, and I bought some of...
Hello, PsychoChickens!
Jacob's Cave is a great event - we went last fall for the 1st time. Didn't make it last weekend, darn it.
You'll find a bunch of great folks on here.
There's also a few facebook pages you might like. BYC's own page...
I haven't, but then, they're too pricey for my blood. I'm a cheapskate.
I did look at their site back when we were getting ideas for our first coop. They have nice designs, but way out of our budget.
We ended up getting a storage building from an auction and adapting it. What would have cost...
Hello, Andrea!
You have found a great place to learn, and a wonderful bunch of people here.
There are tons of DIY coop designs on here that you can look through, or you can tackle it yourselves. All they really need is a place to stay dry & out of the wind, roost, and lay eggs.
Nothing...
Problem is, many of us who actually eat our chickens are often berated or attacked by certain of the "pet chicken" group... So we do get a bit touchy on the subject after defending ourselves a few times.
Wish I had time to deal with them - we have some of our own that need to be introduced to noodles. We're 45 minutes away from you, right up 71 and a little west.
