I hope one isn't the white that I'm buying!! I'm so glad I'm not getting pea eggs right now. I'm staying busy enough with my quail and chickens. AND it's hunting season!!
Zazouse are you using one of the cattle topical/pour on dewormers? Cidectin or ivermectin? How much are you putting on your peas? I've read a wide range of dosing.
With all this egg talk I'm going to check my pen tonight. Crossing my fingers to NOT find any eggs! Y'all just keep the egg fairy to yourselves until next spring. :-)
Non-texans don't realize that there is real truth in everything is bigger in Texas, including how far it is just to cross or partially cross our state :-). I want to add a white peahen but are to busy to drive to far right now. Also not in a huge hurry, just want it settled in before next...
Does any one know of a breeding age white peahen for sale in north central Texas? I had a lot of people wanting white chicks and only had a few this year from my pieds. Would really like to add a white to my trio.
I don't think I will be in such a rush for egg season next year, especially since I'm going to be out of town the first week of June. My kids will be gathering eggs and taking care of everything.
They are so frustrating aren't they!!!! I do everything the same and have 95% hatch from my chickens and 85-90% on my coturnix quail. I am considering adding another peahen before next year but don't know if I can handle the frustration of more pea eggs. I had to turn down multiple sales...
My last egg (#43) looks like it's not going to hatch. It is day 28 with no activity. Mine usually hatch on day 26. I'm glad peachick season is over. I have a guy coming this evening to pick up the last two chicks. Ended up with 25 out of 43 eggs from my trio.
Now have my second chick hatching (#3 late egg) from my last 11 eggs laid. I put all of the last 11 eggs straight into incubator except for two that were laid while I was out of town, those two were stored at 62 degrees for two days. I've removed two for being clears, the others all seam to be...
I'm disappointed again, from setting of 7 pea eggs pulled one for early quitter then only 5 looked fully developed/blackout when put in lockdown. At lockdown one had internally pipped and a second was trying and could see it pushing. Those two hatched on late on day 25. When I pulled those two...
I am still getting eggs. Getting one every other day from the trio pen. I keep putting them straight into the bator thinking that it is the last one. Now I have 8 of the "last eggs" in there!!
I'm located in Ponder, north of Ft worth, in the country slightly west of I35 between Ft worth and Denton. I didn't check the breeding pen at dark last night because I wasn't expecting any eggs, then found an egg this morning in the blue hens nest, I guess she isn't done after all. Will it be...
My peacock has been dropping tail feathers like crazy this week, one hen stopped laying 7 days ago and my blue hasn't laid in 4 days, so I think my breeding season is over. Sure hope I can get some more chicks to hatch from my last 9 eggs. I have 8-9 chicks already spoken for if I can only get...
Wow!!!! I wish I could get that hatch rate. I just got 2 out of 6 two days ago, they hatched on day 27. I candle at lockdown, one clear, two look like only half egg blacked out quitters and one other looked good but no movement or sound and the two that hatched one was internally pipped and one...
Thanks to everyone for the support. I'm very sad about the little pea that died but know that it was doing well when it left here. I will not give a refund or a replace my chick. Going to write up something for buyers to sign for future sales.
