Not an Emergency...Marek's in the Flock

her feet felt like an oven. I'm guessing that that was a fever. How warm is warm? It was eighty outside that day.I've always made sure that if mybirds are acting off, that they get some time away from the flock to eat, drink and sleep. I do all I can under the circumstances

It's ok, I'm also glad she didn't waste away. Unfortunately, I won't be able to get meds for another week =( hopefully the sulmet will keep both problems a bay until I can....

Not an Emergency...Marek's in the Flock

Most likely. I don't have any solid " proof" But I've had plenty birds die with seemingly no cause ( just depressed, lame, not eating etc ) And only a few ever get better. What I find interesting is that so far, all the birds that I have lost have been EEs, or ameraucanas. No other birds have...

This is just awesome.... NOT!!! One of my fav hens is now acting "off" She hasn't laid in weeks, and has now stopped eating, but is drinking a lot. She is also fairly lethargic. I'm treating for Cocci, hoping that thats what it is. Ordering the meds for the other chickens today.

Not an Emergency...Marek's in the Flock

I'm pretty sure that my chickens have infectious coryza. Pretty sure they don't have Cocci. The symptoms are swollen faces around eyes and nostrils, sneezing, and loss of egg production. I just want a product that will work.... even if it's pr icy. But if there's a cheaper med that will work...

Ok, I know baytril is the BEST medicine. But, will Di-Methox work well? I'm working on a budget..... that's the reason why I'm reluctant to get baytril. but I that's the only thing that will work, so be it. The chickens are worse, and now have stopped laying. I need to do something NOW!

Here is a list of meds I can get, that say they treat infectious coryza: Gallimycin Tetroxy HCA-280 DI-METHOX Also found Baytril, but it's sold by the tablet, and I don't know if I could afford 16 tablets....

Not an Emergency...Marek's in the Flock

My chickens have gotten worse, two dose intervals of tylan 50, and one of sulmet! I'm looking into getting di-methox. I found some for thirty dollars a gallon! So it's easier on my pocket, I already have over 35 dollars of meds in these birds, for nothing! And now some of the faces are so...

I agree!! Even if I moved, I would probably still take my own birds, simply because I have already put so much work into them. I think that it is great that you continue to carry on, even with the problems you are having.

Not an Emergency...Marek's in the Flock

Everything I read before giving the meds, said 1/2-1cc per chicken. They are at one cc now. I found a medicine that is the same thing as baytril. There's one problem though, it's 25 dollars a bottle, and I would need 2-3 bottles to treat my flock! At this moment, I don't think I can afford that...

Not an Emergency...Marek's in the Flock

I don't know what to do! My chickens aren't getting better! They have been on Tylan 50 for 5 days, and with a dosage of 3/4cc. There's almost no improvement! I'll treat for the full seven days, and then I'll give them a rest of 3-5 days before I start something else....

Not an Emergency...Marek's in the Flock

I couldn't send her for a necrobsy. I was going to do it myself, but she died late in the day, and I didn't have anything to keep her in for the night.... It never entered my mind that it could be a mental illness. I remember reading the dosage of the sulmet, but I guess since I treated her with...
