BTW, "dog-proof coon traps" work really well. We now keep two set out between the woods and the duck enclosure and have put a dent in the local coon population with them.
They'll get over it, but you need to reinforce things so that the raccoon can't get in again. Once they have gotten a duck, they become very persistent and are surprisingly good at overcoming defenses. If a raccoon can get even one paw onto a duck, it will kill it. We had a series of killings...
