    I was taught a trick years ago... but I don't remember if I've got it right.... Pour boiling brine over cukes, hand seal the jars, listen for the pop, tighten lids and then store upside down for a week. Turn them right side up after that and wait a few more weeks.

    Holy moly. Are those federal or provincial regulations? I've toyed with the idea myself. I have heard that tilapia is the best fish for the system. I'll be curious how the trout works out.

    I had heard that llamas make excellent guard animals... then I talked to someone who raised them and she just scoffed and said nope. I've heard donkeys work well. Has anyone had experience with them as guards?
