    They can and they do. I do have a 4ft and 5 ft roost which they use to get up but they fly down.

    If your shed has exposed rafters they will prefer that to anything you build them for a roost. At least mine do.

    I told my wife when I got the chickens that if we must name the eating ones they'd be named monday, tuesday, wednesday, etc. Mostly to protect the 4 y/o daughter.     I made my cone out of some metal flashing I had laying around. Instructions on this site. Did 9 boys today. My 4 y/o daughter was mad I wouldn't give her the knife to help. My 13 y/o son wanted no part and it about made him sick.

    If you're culling for an illness it should be easier as you're helping the hen by relieving the pain she's in. For food, well sometimes unpleasant tasks just have to be done. I've done a few of my chickens so far, doing a few more excess boys tomorrow. The process isn't exactly fun but they...
