Hugs to you and wife, and prayer for you both to feel God's comfort at this time. Watching your spouse suffer is a very difficult thing. Do you have a support team in place?

I added BE from Cackle last spring. They were slow to mature, but I like the personalities. Nice looking birds, also.

My SIL bought me a book: Foraging New England. Poking through it tonight, I identified some plants that will be making it into my spring meals.

I've had cat tails. They are pretty good. Dandelion greens are also tasty. I've had dandelion wine, though never made it. Hoping that my Wine Cap mushrooms will survive the winter and provide me with a crop in the spring. I made some spore prints from some overgrown shrooms, and hope I can...

68 is not warm enough for someone with your wife's issues. Any way you can jack that heat up a degree or two more? Electric throws will help, but she's probably not generating enough of her own heat. Perhaps you'll have to help her with that! Maybe you need to get her a couple more cats.

Have you had much experience with fish tanks? While, on the surface (pun intended) aquaponics sounds like it would be easy, there is a vast difference between the theory, and the actuality. It takes a lot of intervention to monitor water quality. Something as simple as a plugged filter, or a...

My limited understanding is that prion diseases can not even be destroyed by cooking. Have worked with a CJD patient and it was a very sad process to watch.

THat's a steam canner. Beekissed uses one a lot. I've never used one. I know that when I make apple sauce I don't put much water in it, so when the sauce gets into the jars, there's really no way to get rid of the tiny bubbles that are suspended in the sauce. I've noticed that even...

Fickle trees! I planted 2 Cornelian cherries in May. They looked like they were dying. I checked on them today, and both are loaded with big fat buds. I hope they are not planning to set out new leaves before spring! It would be sweet if they both survive the winter.
