    Thanks for the great suggestions. I'm familiar with square foot gardening from way back. I have been preparing myself for our move by researching and joining wonderful boards like BYC. You are correct. In fact, Tampa, Florida's feral chickens are protected! Lol.

    Are there any Urban Homesteaders from Florida on this board? I can only garden a very small section and am not allowed animals in this community so hope to relocate. I can, bake and make soap,salves and such. Wanting to share experiences.

    Thank you! I own my mobile home and am in a community where I pay lot rent. People behind me have chickens, ducks and goats. They own their property. I love to hear them all. It is my motivator LoL.

    Sorry to offend anyone, as we have no property to homestead yet. Just here to learn and share What I already have implemented. One can begin homesteading in an apartment and a balcony. I am allowed to do everything except have animals in my community. We can't wait to get out of here! Blessings.

    Okra is good pickled as well as fried and in soups. I am an older than sixty with a daughter who are just starting our dream. No time for regrets, will just head forward little by little. We still need our own property as no animals allowed here. Blessings.
