When will Pie get a green head? We got him at the end of March as a few day old duckling. He mates with my female and does not quack so I am positive he is male. Here is a few pics of him and Butterfinger, who is the same age. I am starting to think he will never get a green head...
My mallard drake is 6 months old now and he is still not getting a green head. His body has quite a bit of grey in it and he has a white ring around his neck but no green in his head. When should he start getting his green head?
We have never clipped our mallards wings. They do not leave our fence unless they are escaping my children chasing them. They always fly back in, though. They grew up with 2 Pekins and they do not like to stray far from them. I am hoping they will continue to stay.
Yes Harriet is indeed a Harry he looks just like my drake Pie. Quite funny and awkward getting their drake feathers in. I accidentally gave my duck away and now have 2 drakes and 2 ducks. I am going to wait and see and if I have to I will get rid of one drake, hopefully not because I love them all.
Pics of my mallard pair today. Wow!!! I let them out of their enclosed area for the first time in a few weeks and boy can they fly. It was very cool to see them flying so far and with such control. Poor Pie is going through quite an ugly phase getting his new colors.
Can anyone tell if there are any drakes in my pics? Sorry about all the pics but I cannot tell them apart anymore. I have 3 and they are about 8 weeks old.
