    I bought eggs from Ruth...yesterday was day 21...2 hatched out last night before bed. I have NEVER had a Marans hatch on day 21, they are all usually late. Hate being at work today...wanna be home with my nose pressed against the incubator door!!!

    Here they are...they are so much darker than the GCM eggs I get, the GCM pullet has been laying for over a month. The light egg in the picture is a RIR egg, just for comparison. The picture was taken with natural light and no flash.

    I have a Golden Cuckoo question to ask. I have a pair of pretty light GCM, they are from the same hatch, she has just started laying and he is breeding...LOL. If I would cross the GCM cockerel with my BCM pullets, would this produce a darker GCM? Would I be better off just replacing the light...
